Our entry-level class introduces students to the basic concepts of American Sign Language (ASL) for use in everyday communication with family, friends, new acquaintances or co-workers. No prior knowledge of ASL is required. You will learn proper fingerspelling techniques, hundreds of common signs and the basics of ASL grammar during this class. This fun course will have you using sign language from the very first class. It is usually taught by a deaf instructor.
American Sign Language for Beginners (Group)
Group classes are either two hours in length with a 5-minute break or three hours in length with a 15-minute break for intensive courses. All group classes meet for a total of 20 class hours per session, either once a week for 10 weeks, or twice per week for 5 weeks.
We work hard to provide flexible scheduling in case of cancellations or holidays, so you never lose those hours you pay for.
We offer five levels: Beginning, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each of these levels are made up of four 20-hour sessions, so each level has 80 class hours. A student who goes through all five levels will have 400 hours of instruction.
If you sign up for a higher level course, we may offer it as a private or semi-private option based on demand, and your tuition is applied towards private instruction.
