Alice in Wonderland Riddle in Italian

Happy Halloween!

The ILC Team all dressed up for Halloween 2020!

"Perché i tramonti son pupazzi da levare?"

"Why are sunsets like puppets needing to be taken away?"

In the famous Alice in Wonderland scene, during a tea party with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, Alice is given a riddle in the English version: "Why is a raven like a writing desk?"

But the Italian version changes the riddle into something different! Typically, Italian dubbing offers simpler translations in order to help the general public understand scenes in movies & film.

"Perché i tramonti son pupazzi da levare?"

"Why are sunsets like puppets needing to be taken away?"

Unlike the English version, which has multiple answers, the Italian version has a more practical answer. Sunsets naturally go down for night to come. During a puppet show, if there is no puppeteer to pull the strings of the puppet, it's left on the ground of the stage. Eventually, the sun has to come back up again, and therefore the puppets also must get back up for the next show. Almost feels inspiring, right? Get back up and take on the next day!

So what do you think? Do you prefer the English version of the riddle or the Italian version? Or are you like Alice and confused by both? 😅
