Spanish

Why learn Spanish?

There are many great reasons to learn Spanish! Although Spanish is originally from Spain, more people speak Spanish outside of Spain than in it. Spanish (español) is the official language of twenty countries and one dependent territory worldwide, as well as one of the six official languages of the United Nations. The demand for learning Spanish is growing. It is increasingly more important in global economic markets, becoming very popular even in Asia. It is the third most popular language used on the Internet, only preceded by English and Mandarin (which we also offer 😉). Approximately 18 million people are currently studying Spanish and it is expected that a few generations from today 10% of the global population will understand Spanish. Why not join them?

You might not realize that if you live in the USA, studying Spanish is a great idea!  Approximately 41 million US residents (13.5% of the population) speak Spanish at home.

Is it difficult to learn Spanish?

Spanish is one of the easiest languages for English speakers to learn! Although the grammar is quite different, Spanish uses the same alphabet as English and Spanish is written the way that it sounds. (For this reason, it is actually easier for English speakers to learn Spanish than the other way around!) Also, many English and Spanish words share common Latin roots, and a large number of words are shared between the two languages. You probably already know more Spanish vocabulary than you think!
