Weekly Itinerary
Each week includes speaking practice, games, cultural context, and real-world role-plays. You’ll use everything you learn — right away.
12-Week Beginner Conversational French 1 Itinerary
Week 1: Greetings, introductions, French pronunciation, subject pronouns, and être.
Week 2: Nationalities, languages, occupations, articles, and basic personal information.
Week 3: Family and friends, possessive adjectives, and describing people.
Week 4: Numbers, dates, time, schedules, and asking simple questions.
Week 5: Daily routines, work and school life, and present tense -ER verbs.
Week 6: Hobbies, likes and dislikes, leisure activities, and preference verbs.
Week 7: Food, restaurants, cafés, ordering meals, and partitive articles.
Week 8: Shopping, clothing, prices, quantities, and requesting assistance.
Week 9: Home and neighborhood vocabulary, locations, and describing spaces.
Week 10: Transportation, travel, directions, and using aller and venir.
Week 11: Talking about your life, review of present tense verbs, and extended conversations.
Week 12: Comprehensive review, conversational presentations, French culture, and course celebration.
Meet Your Instructor
Carla
Languages: French & Portuguese
Carla is a dedicated language educator, lifelong learner, and avid traveler who believes that learning a new language is an invitation to discover different cultures and new perspectives.
Originally from Brazil, Carla spent more than 20 years living in Canada before recently making Indianapolis her home. Her experiences across Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, and now Indiana have enriched both her personal journey and her approach to teaching, allowing her to bring authentic cultural insights into every lesson.
Carla teaches Portuguese and French with enthusiasm, encouraging students to build confidence while exploring the traditions, customs, and stories behind each language. She believes that language learning extends far beyond grammar and vocabulary, it's about creating meaningful connections with people and cultures around the world.
Outside the classroom, Carla enjoys planning her next adventure, visiting museums, sharing conversations over coffee, exploring wines from different regions, and discovering destinations where language, culture, cuisine, and art come together.
For Carla, every language opens the door to a new world, and every student begins an exciting journey of discovery.
