What You’ll Learn

  • Read and write Hangul confidently without relying on romanization

  • Understand and use basic Korean sentence structure (SOV) and polite endings

  • Introduce themselves, ask simple questions, and share basic personal information

  • Use common verbs in the present and past tense to talk about daily activities

  • Express likes, wants, and simple preferences

  • Talk about time, dates, locations, and basic plans

  • Order food, make polite requests, and navigate simple service interactions

  • Recognize key cultural norms around politeness and everyday communication

  • Participate in short, guided conversations in predictable real-world situations

Weekly Itinerary

Each week includes speaking practice, games, cultural context, and real-world role-plays. You’ll use everything you learn — right away.

  • Week 1 – Hangul foundations: alphabet, sound system, syllable blocks, greetings, and classroom Korean

  • Week 2 – Hangul fluency, pronunciation rules, and basic survival expressions

  • Week 3 – Korean sentence structure (SOV), 이다 (to be), names, and introductions

  • Week 4 – Polite endings (–요), yes/no questions, and basic conversational exchanges

  • Week 5 – Topic and subject particles (은/는, 이/가) and simple descriptive sentences

  • Week 6 – Common verbs in the present tense and talking about daily routines

  • Week 7 – Location markers (에, 에서) and discussing places and movement

  • Week 8 – Numbers (native & sino), time, dates, and making simple plans

  • Week 9 – Expressing likes, preferences (좋아하다), and wants (–고 싶다)

  • Week 10 – Past tense basics, polite requests, service interactions, and integrated review with role-plays

Meet So Young!


So Young has been teaching Korean for over 11 years and loves helping students build confidence while connecting with the language. She has taught at Purdue University’s International Center, the Korean school hosted by the Korean Presbyterian Church (supported by the Korean Embassy), and through the English Club academy she founded to support learners of all ages.


As both an experienced instructor and a mom of two, So Young brings patience, flexibility, and encouragement to her teaching. Her lessons go beyond vocabulary and grammar to include Korean culture and real-life practice, making the language meaningful and engaging. Outside the classroom, she enjoys staying active and working out, which gives her the energy and balance to support both her family and her students.
