Itinerary
Each week includes speaking practice, games, cultural context, and real-world role-plays. You’ll use everything you learn — right away.
Brazilian Portuguese Beginner 1 — Weekly Focus & Goals
Week 1: Greetings & introductions — formal/informal greetings, polite expressions, stating your name.
Week 2: Alphabet & pronunciation — Brazilian sounds, nasal vowels, spelling names, basic phonetics.
Week 3: Personal information — saying where you’re from, nationalities, professions, “ser/estar” basics.
Week 4: Numbers & daily survival phrases — phone numbers, prices, asking for clarification.
Week 5: Talking about family — family vocabulary, possession (meu/minha/seu/sua), simple present with ter.
Week 6: Daily routines — regular verbs (-ar, -er, -ir), time expressions, describing your routine.
Week 7: Around the city — places, directions, transportation, useful phrases for getting around.
Week 8: Food & cafés — ordering, preferences (gostar de), menus, common foods & drinks.
Week 9: Shopping & clothing — colors, sizes, prices, polite requests, querer for asking/answering.
Week 10: At home — describing rooms, furniture, locations with estar, basic prepositions.
Week 11: Health & feelings — symptoms, simple advice, expressing needs with precisar, emotions.
Week 12: Review & conversations — integrated role-plays, everyday dialogues, and short oral presentations.

Carolina is a Brazilian-born nurse who moonlights as a Spanish and Portuguese instructor—bringing the same compassion, sharp attention to detail, and quick-learning spirit she’s known for in healthcare. Animated, musical, and wonderfully high-energy, Carolina teaches with movement, visuals, and plenty of laughter. As a certified Zumba instructor, she infuses her classes with rhythm, culture, and real-world expression, helping students feel confident, connected, and joyfully engaged from day one.
