Rachel
Languages: Mandarin
Rachel Hu is a native Mandarin speaker with extensive experience in language education. In Shanghai, she taught IELTS and SSAT at New Oriental (新东方), working with students from different age groups and language levels. After moving to the United States, she has taught TOEFL iBT and Academic Writing at Seven Seas Academy and has also worked with Rutgers University on English language and international education programs.
Rachel holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Manchester. Having lived and studied in both China and the United States, she understands both the challenges of learning a new language and the experience of adapting to a different culture.
Rachel enjoys teaching because she finds it rewarding to see students make progress and become more confident through language. She believes teaching is a two-way learning experience and enjoys learning from her students as much as she enjoys helping them learn.
While her professional teaching experience has primarily been in English language education, Rachel has also raised and taught Mandarin to her own two children. She is interested in helping students develop practical Mandarin communication skills and discover the enjoyment of learning a new language.
Outside of teaching, Rachel enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her family.
