Anthony Ocean

Meet Anthony!
Anthony Ocean (he/him) is a native speaker of English with over 11 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language to students of all levels. He is also a fluent speaker of German; he began teaching German in 2007.
Anthony’s teaching style is both engaging and structured. He enjoys helping students grow in confidence and fluency through a balance of speaking, listening, reading, and writing practice that fits the students’ needs. Anthony tailors his courses to his specific students and loves helping them reach their language goals.

Adriano Caldeira

Meet Adriano!
Adriano is a native Portuguese speaker from Brazil with over 25 years of experience as both a teacher and an academic administrator. He holds advanced degrees in language, linguistics, marketing, and communication, including a Master of Science in Language and specialist certificates in Linguistics, Communication, and Digital Marketing. He is currently completing his PhD in Communication at Universidade Fernando Pessoa in Portugal.

Tina Tian

Ms. Tina Tian has been teaching Mandarin classes for four years at the Indy Language Center. She was born in China and came to the US after graduated from college. For 25 years in the States, Tina received her master’s degree in global management and worked in different industries.

Meet SoYoung!
So Young has been teaching Korean for over 11 years and loves helping students build confidence while connecting with the language. She has taught at Purdue University’s International Center, the Korean school hosted by the Korean Presbyterian Church (supported by the Korean Embassy), and through the English Club academy she founded to support learners of all ages.

Nuona Chen
Instructor: Mandarin
Meet Nuona!
Nuona is a native Mandarin speaker with a strong academic background and a passion for precision and clear communication. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Public Health–Epidemiology at Indiana University, followed by a Master’s in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan. Her professional experience in data analysis and AI annotation has honed her dedication to details, structure, and accuracy—qualities she brings into every Mandarin lesson.

Hungria Maldonado-Essig
Instructor: Spanish
Meet Hungría!
Hungria Maldonado-Essig was born in Venezuela, graduated as an industrial engineer, and at age 37 immigrated to the United States with her three children. After more than 30 years of working in positions related to engineering and part-time language teaching, she decided to focus as a freelancer using her bilingual (Spanish-English) training in the fields of education, interpretation, and translation.
